The "Why blog? Why me?" Challenge
Why blog? My goal with this blog is to share my experience with SAT prep and college admissions counseling with a wider audience. I’ve worked as a high school teacher and counselor and now I have my own educational consulting business, but the number of people I reach in a given year is limited. I know from experience there are a lot of students and families who have questions on college admissions and test prep. There’s a lot of information out there on these topics, maybe too much information. I want to get past the hype and scare tactics and provide good, solid information people can use. I don’t want to focus on secret tips or tricks to “market and package” students; to me students aren’t manufactured goods! I don’t want to focus on the elite colleges; there are plenty of people doing that already and an overwhelming majority of high school students will NOT attend an Ivy League school. I just want to share advice based on my 16+ years of experience in this field. Why a challenge? Well, if you know me, you wouldn’t have to ask that question. I’m competitive by nature and like to test my own abilities. Now I get to put my very new blog to the test. In the next 30 days, look for lots of information on the SAT and some highlights of college campuses I’ve visited this year. The challenge is on!]]>

Hi! I am part of the challenge too! Great job here. We have some things in common. I, too, am new to blogging. It’s going to be great getting to know you over the next 30 days! Great job!

Welcome to the Ultimate Blog Challenge, Megan! Glad you’ve jumped in to join. 🙂
It’s been more than 10 years since I took my SAT/ACT but I am a big believer in prep! Knowing how to take the tests is so important. Just knowing what to expect and how to deal with the stress can make a big difference. Every kid can improve their scores with good preparation and guidance. I’ll be thinking of parents I can share your site with.
